Grapevine Looks to this Season with High Expectations!

Grapevine High School Hockey Association is very excited to present two teams this season – our Varsity squad featuring returning veterans and seniors (Nick Aldi, Kevin Cochran, Dylan Johnson, Jakob Young and new edition from Lewisville HS, Elliott Brewer) and a core group of underclassmen look to go very deep this year. The team is blessed with two strong goalies and a very HIGH ENERGY OFFENSE supported by a BLUE LINE DEFENSE second to NONE!!! (for you non-hockey guys – that’s a good thing).

Grapevine has also teamed up with Colleyville Heritage HS to form a Junior Varsity team that is the building block for the future. The team, a blend of Grapevine, Colleyville and several surrounding schools is expected to be a very solid and high performing team!

The Varsity team will be led by our esteemed head coach Laddy Tresl who is assisted by Court Ludwig. The JV team will have Bill Stuckeman at the helm.

Mustangs look to new season with high hopes and a DEEP playoff run!

August 22, 2010. Grapevine, TX. YOUR Grapevine Mustang’s get back on the ice next week with returning veterans and a new net minder that has the coaching staff very excited. The team’s outlook this season is more promising than last year as a core group of returning players and the addition of high scoring new player presents the team with firepower up front and solid defense on the back end. The boys will play in an ATT sponsored tournament the weekend of September 11 and the season starts on September 30th. Please tune back here and join our Twitter to follow the team!

GHSHA Hosts Successful Car Wash –

August 14, 2010. Grapevine, TX. Mustang players volunteered their time today to wash cars at the 7-11 at Glade and 121 to help raise money to offset the cost of hockey operations for the club. A strong showing from upper and lower classmen were present and washed and dried many, many cars and trucks.

The Board thanks all the players, parents and the folks who came by to support the team today!

Mustang Tryouts Over – Team takes Summer Break

Saturday, July 17, 2010 (Grapevine). Your Mustang’s are taking the summer off as we’ve ended tryouts with great success. The team does have a few additional Varsity positions available and is working with several area HS’s to form a Junior Varsity Team for the upcoming 2010-11 season. The team will be on break until practice begins on August 24, 2010.

Mustangs Annouce Try outs for 2010-2011 Season

Grapevine, TX. The Grapevine HS Hockey Association has set June 15* and June 22* as the official tryout dates for the GHSHA 2010-2011 season. The club will be looking to fill its Varsity Team. In addition to the Varsity Team, the Club is working with cross district schools, Colleyville and Southlake to form joint JV and JV prep teams to allow junior players to play HS hockey during the fall. These tryouts are for all three teams. The tryout fee is $50.00 and look for more information here or email grapevinehockey@verizon.net for more information.

*Players are encourage to skate at both tryouts but only need to attend one night. The time will be at 815PM at Polar Ice in Grapevine.

Mustangs Plan on Special 7th/8th Grade Skate with the Varisity Night

The Grapevine HS Hockey Association has extended an invitation to all eligible GHS bound 7th and 8th graders to skate with the Varsity Team and Coaches on Tuesday, June 1st ( Polar Ice, 815PM). GHSHA Holds Annual Banquet

Grapevine, TX. The Grapevine HS Hockey Association held its annual Banquet at the Lancaster Theater located in Grapevine’s Art Center in downtown Grapevine on Friday, May 7, 2010. The event was heavily attended by the club’s 2009-2010 team, families and friends. A good time was had by all! The GHSHA is proud to share the following awards presented by the team’s coaches:

Most Valuable Player – Jayson Fisher (Senior)

Offensive Player of the Year – Alex Rife (A) (Senior)

Defensive Player of the Year – Michael James (A) (Senior)

Rookie of the Year – Asa Lipsie (Freshman)

In addition to the the three seniors noted above – the Club is wishing well to the rest of the team’s seniors who graduate this year:

Summer Skate and Tryout Information

Grapevine, TX. The Mustang’s 2010-2011 season will have a Summer Skate program from May 4, 2010 through the end of June. Tryout’s for the 2010-2011 teams (Varsity and JV) will be scheduled in the middle of June. Please email grapevinehockey@verizon.net for more information.

Mustangs look to Next Season

Grapevine, TX. The Mustangs playoff run ended with a loss to Garland. The team has announced its intent to play in the Summer 2010 ATT HS Hockey League scheduled to kick off on May 20th. Mustangs plan to hit the ice again in early May.

Mustang’s open playoffs with a 5-4 win over Denton County

Farmers Branch. The Mustang’s took to the ice with high expectations for this year’s playoffs. After a scoreless first period, the boys got into some penalty trouble but a relentless Jayson Fisher scored a short handed tally fighting off a 5 on 3 kill. The second period had the teams tied at two apiece (Dalton scoring Grapevine’s second goal). Grapevine struck first and fast into the third period as Quinn Hardtke scored 11 seconds into the period but Denton County came back with two unanswered goals at the 3:34 and 6:15 mark of the period to take a 4-3 lead. Alternate Captain Alex Rife’s goal tied the game at 10:33 and Dalton Foster’s second goal of the night 21 seconds later put the boys up 5-4.

Grapevine takes on #1 seed Garland, Thursday evening at ITC with the puck dropping at 630PM.
