MUSTANG’S STAMPEDE PAST PLANO WEST 9-3
Farmers Branch, TX. The Mustang’s special teams took advantage of poor discipline by the Plano West team scoring five power play goals and one shorty on their way to a 9-3 win. Eight different Grapevine players scored to contribute as goalie Jakob Roessner stopped 22 shots on route to the victory. The Mustangs moved into third place in the division and ninth overall as they march their way to playoff contention. Dalton Foster’s shorthanded goal at 5:22 put the boys up early in the period, but two Plano goals within 30 seconds at the 12 minute mark saw the team go down 2-1. However, Alex Rife’s goal late in the first period at 14:21, with helpers from Jayson Fisher and Captain Stuart Campbell evened up the game at 2-2. The team scored three unanswered goals in the second period by Asa Lipsie, Jayson Fisher, and Michael James to put the boys up by three. The Mustang’s put the game out of reach with Nick Aldi’s wicked wrist shot goal early in the third period at 1:10. Additional third period goals by Dylan Johnson, Jakob Young and Jayson’s Fisher’s second goal of the night put the icing on the cake as the Mustang’s moved into third place with a 9-9-0 record. Coaches Laddy and Court where very pleased with the team’s performance and continue to sing praises for the boys.
